November 20th, 2013 | Posted by John in Adventures | Blog | Travel - (Comments Off)

When money does not represent a problem, several world destinations become more and more interesting due to the exquisite quality of the touristic services offered to the clients.  Depending on the type of holiday you want to have, here are some of the possible alternatives. Each one of the islands is located in the middle of clean blue water and provides many hours of relaxation and tons of pleasant memories. I love spending time at these destinations, and the best part about my job, is that I can take my work with me. I can trade with Shiznit Stocks in the morning, and enjoy the beaches and scenery in the afternoon.

1. Sardinia is just one such example. The island is located in the Mediterranean Sea and it represents the perfect place for relaxing and unwinding. The beaches have all white sand, the sea water is clean and blue and every detail seems to be perfect for the tourists that step on the island.

Inland you will discover several mountains, and this provides two important categories of activities while on vacation: spending time on the beach and in the water, or hiking and climbing the nearby mountains. Especially the South of Sardinia is the perfect place for relaxing in the sun, on one of the numerous elegant beaches, or in the water, which is considered to be the bluest in the entire Europe.

The Northern part of the island also has some remote beaches with luxury yacht clubs, as well as some villages where you can discover the real life of its inhabitants. Some piazzas, bars and restaurants, as well as nice hotels are all to be found in the North of Sardinia. A lot of historical important ruins and signs of ancient civilizations can be seen on the island, and they too represent a powerful tourist attraction.

2. Barbados is the place where the luxury resorts will simply amaze you. The island boasts with very elegant hotels, outstanding restaurants and large golf courses. It is the place that attracts tourists that love sunbathing, as well as practicing some of the most popular water sports.

Numerous schools and clubs function right on the beach and they do not lack students at all! The island is tropical, so even in the dry season, from December to June, it is a pleasant place to visit. The elegant and luxurious restaurants are prepared to amaze your senses with the special local and international dishes you are going to find there.

You will be delighted to take part in the Barbados Crop Festival, which is held from June till August. During the festival you will be invited to taste different meals, drink all sorts of beverages, dance or listen to music performances.

3. Tenerife is famous another luxury destination. The island belongs to the Canary Islands and everyone on the island seems to be dedicated to making your stay there a wonderful time. The South of the islands has the largest of the resorts where the beaches will definitely charm you. The North of the island offers lush landscape and when visited, it will offer you a real understanding of the regular life on the Canary Islands.

There are about 350 kilometers / 218 miles of coastline, and as the weather is pleasant all year long, there is no wonder people come and spend their vacation there all year long, regardless of the season. Numerous luxury hotels are awaiting for you in Tenerife, most of them having the most exclusivist offers and bonuses for tourists. They all have private beaches, water sports clubs, wonderful views from the balconies and great room service.

Grand Canyon National Park

September 19th, 2013 | Posted by John in Adventures - (Comments Off)

You can be one of the 5 million persons that choose to visit the Grand Canyon in a year. The Grand Canyon, 1.218.375 acres, lies on the Colorado Plateau in NW Arizona. The canyon separates the park in to North and South Rims. Vegetation, climate and scenery are totally different on each rim and this is due to the height difference. The big majority goes to the South Rim which is more accessible, is open all year long offering the possibility of admiring the world from a 2134m height. The North Rim rises 305 m higher than the South Rim and is less accessible due to heavy snows that fall and close the roads from October till May every year.

The Inner canyon is visited mostly by hikers, mule riders or river runners. If you are looking for real adventure, you could be one of the tourists that decide for a river trip or a mule ride through the Canyon. Such trips usually last longer than few days; a trip or a ride of this kind could last up to three weeks so, get well informed before you decide to get involved in one of them. You cannot go for a one day long river trip, for example. You could choose to enjoy a motorized or non motorized rafting trip. The length of these trips differ a lot, the rapid one will last up to 5 days while the slower one will last up to a minimum of 7 days.

The Grand Canyon offers great accommodation for tourists that want to spend more than one day there and the prices, for the South Rim, are somewhere between 72 USD per night to 440USD per night, depending on the tourist’s financial possibilities. If you want to visit the North Rim, the prices are between 116USD and 192USD. There is also the possibility of camping inside the Grand Canyon, at two specified locations but you do need a reservation for this.

The oldest human artifacts were dated 12.000 years behind and belong to the Paleo-Indian period. From that time till today the park has been populated by humans.

The land in the canyon is arid and is one of the most studied geological places in the entire world as specialists and students can admire three or even four eras of geological time. The canyon is the place where you can still see and admire numerous specially protected plant and animal species. There have been identified 1500 plants, 355 birds, 89 mammalians, 47 reptiles, 17 fish species. If you are lucky you could see some of them with your own eyes if Arizona and the Grand Canyon will be your next summer vacation destination.

It will cost you 25USD per car to enter the Grand Canyon National Park and this covers everyone in the car. A wise advice I have been given and that I want to share with you would be to try and get informed on the canyon before you enter it. This way you will know what to look for, what plants, animals or birds to look for and so you will benefit 100% from this trip. Once you get in the park you either park your car and walk to different the view points or take the canon shuttle that will take you to the different locations. The choice will depend on the number of visitors that will be there. Try to avoid stopping at the very first view point as it is always crowded. Resist the temptation and look for another one so that you can better admire the landscape.

If you live outside the U.S.A. you are going to need a rented car for this trip. Fortunately, there are many car rental companies that will do whatever they can to get your business, offering you special prices and free add-ons. Nevertheless, an even better solution that will help you save a lot of money is to rent the car ahead of time, together with your flight tickets; this way, you are going to get the best value for your rental.

Beaufort Port Royal

February 5th, 2013 | Posted by John in Blog - (Comments Off)

The Town of Port Royal is located in South Carolina, between the Beaufort River and the Battery Creek. It might be a small town, but it is considered to be one of the leaders in small town New Urbanism. This means that despite its size, it strives and (most of all) it has succeeded to offer its inhabitants a high quality life.

beaufort port royal

The town of Port Royal has a rich history and seven different flags have flown over this settlement along the centuries; among them we can count the Spanish flag, the French flag, the English flag and the Scottish flag. The town has been continually developing since 1996, due to different annexations and the construction of different buildings or new houses.

It’s not all about being modern in Port Royal, though. The town continues to keep many of the old customs and traditions that have been so appreciated over the years. A good example that speaks for itself is the farmers’ market, which is held on a weekly basis, and where farmers come together to sell their products.

If you have the curiosity or simply happen to be passing by and stop at the farmers’ market, you will be enchanted by the general atmosphere that can be found there. You will see many farmers selling cheese, home-made food, fresh fruits, vegetables etc.

After the period of decline that took place during the last decade, when people got used to buy all the stuff they needed at the supermarkets, the need for 100% natural fresh fruit and vegetables is very strong again, and these open markets are once again gaining in popularity.

It’s not all about the locals, though. Port Royal is a place that welcomes tourists from all over the world that love to explore nature. The Low country is the perfect place where you can find different types of land, be it marsh, forest land, brush land, fields and ponds with fresh and clean water. It is here that you could admire numerous bird and plant species.

If you decide to spend at least a few days in Port Royal, don’t forget to go and see the sands that are located close to the Beaufort River. It is a smaller area where you can walk, admire the landscape and gather shells. If you love to take pictures, then the Cypress wetlands are the perfect place for you, because they are the ideal environment for a great variety of birds and wonderful vegetation.

If walking by yourself does not suit you, then you could choose to take part in Jon Sharp’s Walking History Tour. Jon is a former actor in love with the town, and this (his love) is clearly visible. For this reason he provides fun, exciting stories about the town’s past and present. You can enroll in such a tour from spring till fall, at 11 o’clock a.m. Each tour will take you on foot, for about 2 hours and a half, from one important site to the other, so make sure to get a pair of comfortable shoes.

One of the best ranked restaurants in Port Royal is 11st St. Dockside Restaurant. Its cuisine is seafood oriented and it is considered to be a good place for families with children and large groups, offering its clients lunch, dinner, late night meals and desserts.

Beaufort, located close to Port Royal, strives to offer unique experiences to its tourists as well. The Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park is considered by the tourists to be the number one attraction because of its breathtaking landscape. On the second place is the Hunting Island State Park, a large park that includes a fantastic looking lighthouse that was built in 185. It is the perfect place for a nice, relaxing afternoon for both kids and adults.
